Catch the drift
Which Seattle landmark came first?
Put these four in order, oldest to newest: the Space Needle, Pike Place Market, the Great Seattle Fire, and the Aurora Bridge.
Take your guess before you read on.
The answer: the Great Seattle Fire came first, on June 6, 1889, when a carpenter's glue pot boiled over in a cabinet shop. Pike Place Market opened in 1907, the Aurora Bridge in 1932, and the Space Needle went up for the 1962 World's Fair. The fire is also why downtown rebuilt in brick and stone.
